The Living Building Challenge™ is the built environment’s most rigorous performance standard. It calls for the creation of building projects at all scales that operate as cleanly, beautifully and efficiently as nature’s architecture. To be certified under the Challenge, projects must meet a series of ambitious performance requirements over a minimum of 12 months of continuous occupancy.

Understand how the Petals and Imperatives work within the Living Building Challenge Certification.
Identify Scale Jumping and how it can be incorporated with a project.

Speaker Bio: Leslie A. Jonsson, P.E., CSBA, LEED AP BD+C
Leslie Jonsson’s successful career in sustainable building practices started as a dream. She pursued her degree while raising two children. Entering the world of engineering was a focused, deliberate decision, fueled by her passion for the industry. Now, as a LEED AP and Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, her passion has been channeled into bringing green issues to life. Leslie’s dedication and innovations in sustainable design earned her a BetterBricks Award, recognition reserved for industry leaders who excel in sustainable practices.
Leslie provides project management, mechanical design, and construction administration for a wide variety of facility types, including new construction and renovation projects. Leslie is an active member of ASHRAE and the International Living Future Institute. She is currently the ASHRAE Region XI Regional Vice Chair for Chapter Technology Transfer Committee. Leslie received her Certified Sustainable Building Advisor (CSBA) Certificate from the National Sustainability Advisor Program.
