Part 1 – Roles We Play as Engineers

This series aims to provide context, resources, and guidance for engineers newly entering our industry to help them develop their skills faster. In short… this course is a compilation of the things ‘I wish someone would have told me’ when I started as a young engineer.

The first session of this course will present the general process that a building goes through from idea through to maintained and occupied building; highlighting the roles that engineers play throughout that process.

This presentation will illuminate how engineering professionals can contribute to and support projects and their client’s goals.

Brandon Crane, P.E. CEM LEED AP, 2024-25 ASHRAE Inland Empire Chapter President

Brandon has been a design engineer for nearly 17 years working on a wide variety of projects including schools, office buildings, industrial facilities, tenant improvement projects, power generation facilities, retail, restaurants, warehouses, and everything in between; most of this experience has been in renovation projects in existing buildings.

Brandon is a certified energy manager and is providing Energy Auditing services with Custom Energy Consultants who focus on providing clients with Clean Building Act compliance support.
